Biology I and Biology II are a two-semester course sequence designed to consolidate major biological concepts and practices offered in a setting that includes both lecture and lab in each semester. Biology II, offered in the spring semester focuses on gene expression and regulation in prokaryotes and eukaryotes, biotechnology, population genetics, vertebrate development, systematics, biodiversity and field ecology, evolutionary medicine, and introduction to immunology. The laboratory component connects the concepts with hands-on experiments using modern wet-lab technology and bioinformatics. The coverage of research competency continues from Biology I with the development of research poster, poster presentation and the emphasis of ethical behavior in research.
