Profile

Dr. Zakaria holds a PhD in microbiology from the University of Exeter, UK. She joined Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) in 2016. Prior to joining WCM-Q, she worked as a postdoctoral research fellow in immunology for several years at the University of Bristol.

Since she joined WCM-Q, Dr. Zakaria has created a new immunology course for the second-year pre-medical students. Furthermore, she has developed several class and lab modules for the introductory biology course to introduce the first-year pre-medical students to many concepts that are directly connected to the medical program.

Dr. Zakaria has been mentoring the pre-medical and medical students in several research projects. They have been investigating topics related to pathogen host interactions and the immune responses. Most recently, they have published several impactful papers in international peer reviewed journals, which answered important questions related to COVID-19 and its vaccines.
