1. Clinical curriculum

• How will final grades in core clerkships be determined?

  Please refer to your clerkship syllabus for details on how your grade will be calculated. Your Clerkship Director would also have covered this material during Clerkship Orientation – please feel free to check the slides from the orientation as well.

• If I am unwell and miss clinical experiences, what can I do?
  • Please speak with your Clerkship Director. The way clinical experiences will be made up will be on a case-by-case basis and can depend on how long you are away.

• Where can I find a Clerkship Schedule?

  Please feel free to reach out to OCS@qatar-med.cornell.edu; alternatively, you may reach out to your Academic Counsellor.

2. COVID and clinical setting

• Will I be treating COVID-19 patients?

  No, you will not be treating COVID-19 patients. If, however, you are exposed to a COVID-19 patient, please refer to the WCM-Q COVID-19 Guidelines for Student Testing and Monitoring, Infection Control, PPE Usage, and Patient Care living document for up to date comprehensive guidelines. If you are asked to do so, please contact your Clerkship Director immediately before any contact with a COVID-19 patient is made.

• Will I be rounding on COVID-19 floors/units?

  No, if you are asked to do so, please contact your Clerkship Director immediately

3. NBMEs

• Will I be taking my NBME at the college?
  • Yes, your NBME’s will be administered at the college.
  • Should the need arise, NBME’s may be completed remotely. You will be provided with detailed instructions on how to prepare for exam day, as well as the expectations for examination day. Please note that all examination sessions are recorded.
• What happens if I lose my internet connection during the exam?

  During an in-person exam administration, the likelihood of this happening is low. If it does occur, please raise your hand and a proctor will assist you. During a remote exam administration, please contact a proctor. The proctors will share their mobile numbers before the exam starts.

• I understand that the remote examination session is recorded. What will the recording be used for?

  If your exam is administered remotely, it will be recorded.  We refer back to the video if there is a case of academic misconduct. Therefore, your video and sound must be on for the duration of your examination.

• What happens if I miss an assessment because of internet connection or illness?

  • If you have a connection issue the date of your examination, please call your proctor (who will share their information with you in advance of your examination).

4. Remote learning

• What will I be expected to do in the remote learning activities?
  • You will be expected to sign-in for live sessions.
  • You are expected to have your Camera on at all times during the live sessions.
  • You will be expected to participate in your sessions.
