Description
|
The Staff Medical Centre offers students the opportunity to observe & engage in direct patient consultation. This would be performed under the supervision of a Primary Care Consultant. The elective would divided into appropriate sections. The first portion would involve doctor-patient observation and discussion around cases observed by Students. The latter part would involve direct consultation with pre-booked and walk in patients in the clinic. Students will rotate amongst Consultants to gain a deeper understanding of various consultation models and the challenges consultation present in the clinical outpatient setting:
- Opportunity to choose and shape elective to individual student learning needs with dedicated preceptor supervision.
- Institutional, departmental & individual learning environments for student experience of postgraduate learning
- Unique opportunity to experience occupational health in relation to patient well being at HMC
- Diversity in Clinic setting with acute and chronic disease management.
The students will be evaluated based on the consensus of the staff with whom they have engaged with in combination with DOPs and patient engagement. Below are a few of the areas we hope to explore during assessment.
Below is a proposed timetable:
- Student ability to take focused medical History
- Student ability to perform focused medical examination
- Student selected case Summary and short presentation
- Student Time management in Staff Setting
