Description

The OB/Gyn Basic Science and Imaging Elective aims to enhance the knowledge of common obstetric and gynecologic conditions through a deeper exploration of their underlying pathophysiology and radiological correlates. The elective can be taken either prior to, or after the core clerkship in OB /Gyn as the content will provide a useful foundation to underlie the focus on clinical evaluation and management encountered in the clerkship. The elective curriculum builds on the basic science knowledge acquired in the HID2 Human Reproduction Unit to strengthen the understanding that will be/has been acquired in the clerkship.

The 2-week elective will consist largely of self-directed / independent learning through a series of narrated slide presentations or APGO videos. Additional elements include occasional live Zoom sessions, literature search on pandemics and pregnancy, and ultrasound modules. Assessment will include attendance, participation, a short MCQ exam, reflective statement, and a report on pandemics.
