Description
|
The goal of this one month elective is to allow the student to develop fundamental knowledge in the evaluation and treatment of common oral and maxillofacial surgical problems. Students will be exposed to the evaluation and treatment of facial trauma; including mandibular, zygomatic and midface fractures. Students will also be taught to evaluate and formulate differential diagnosis in the area of oral pathology and facial pain. Students will be assigned to both the outpatient oral/maxillofacial surgical clinic, where they will evaluate and treat patients under the supervision of attending, as well as be assigned to assist in the operating room. The elective may involve evening or night calls.
Students will be exposed to a wide range of Maxillofacial, congenital and acquired conditions with emphasis on Tumors and Trauma at Rumaillah Hospital and Hamad General Hospital.
