Description

The elective will be based in the NCCCR (National Centre for Cancer Care and Research). It is offered both as a 2-week and a 4-week course and will enable the student to experience the full breadth of Hematology/Oncology.  The student will be able to design their experience with options including the inpatient service, transplantation service, the day ward, urgent care, and outpatient clinics. Observation of bone marrow biopsies and other procedures is available.  Time can be arranged in the hematology laboratory and in the Blood Bank.  Attendance at multi-disciplinary meetings is encouraged.  Involvement in research projects will also be encouraged when appropriate.

There are numerous education sessions timetabled throughout the normal working week in the department that the student will be able to join.

Evaluation will be based on attendance, participation, professionalism and clinical skills.
