Description

Medical student will participate in all aspects of emergency medical care at HMC Emergency Departments and will be exposed to a diverse patient population with high acuity clinical problems. Students will function as sub-interns (S.I.s) under the direct supervision of the Emergency Medicine faculty. S.I.s will rotate through a clinical schedule that includes days, evenings, nights and weekends and will be expected to present their cases to Attending Emergency Physicians. Each S.I. will be required to prepare a detailed case presentation and discussion during the last week of the rotation. This subinternship is primarily intended for students who have already chosen or are seriously considering Emergency Medicine for residency training after graduation. The subinternship is also appropriate for students who are seeking an intense clinical experience in Emergency Medicine prior to beginning their training in other specialties. Evaluation: Final evaluations will be based on a consensus by all of the faculty members who the S.I. has interacted with.
