Cross-Registration

Courses at other Education City schools are available for students registered at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q).

WCM-Q students may enroll in classes at other Education City schools providing:

They are a second-year college student at WCM-Q
There is space available in the class at the Host University
They meet the pre-requisites for the course of intent
They have completed the Cross-Registration Form
They have received approval from their academic counselor
They have received approval from the WCM-Q registrar (Raya Al-Irani)

Applying for a Cross-registration Class

Complete the Education City cross-registration form. This is the only form that will be accepted and it must be completed online and printed off for appropriate signatures. Old/handwritten forms will not be accepted. In addition, you must submit a copy of your passport with the cross-registration request form. Forms will not be accepted if they are incomplete in any way.
Registration at the university in which you plan to enroll is on a first-come, first-served basis. Once your form has been processed by the WCM-Q registrar, you will then need to take the form to the host university to be registered for the course.
The host university will advise you if your application is successful.
Once your cross-registration course enrollment is confirmed by the host university, you must submit the course information to the WCM-Q registrar.

Reminder: By enrolling at another university in Education City, you are agreeing to follow their university rules and policies, which includes attending classes even if WCM-Q is closed. Not all universities follow the same academic calendar and you must adhere to the requirements of the host university .

Cross Registration Processes and Course Listings – for Spring 2025 and by Institution

Below you will find information on the courses available for cross-registration by other universities in Education City for the Spring 2025 term. As mentioned above, registration for courses in Cross Registration status is subject to the availability of seats and to course pre-requisites being met.

American University of Afghanistan (AUAF): (updated on: TBD)

Carnegie Mellon University in Qatar (CMUQ): (updated on: October 24, 2024)

The Spring 2025 course schedule will be made available by Monday, October 28, 2024, at: https://enr-apps.as.cmu.edu/open/SOC/SOCServlet/search (Teaching Location: Doha, Qatar).
Students must email the completed cross-registration application form with a copy of the passport to qatareducationform@andrew.cmu.edu
CMUQ will start accepting cross-registration forms for Spring 2025 from Sunday, November 24, 2024 until Sunday, December 15, 2024.
CMUQ will start its Spring 2025 term on Sunday, January 5, 2025.
Note that CMUQ’s courses are delineated by “units”. Generally, a “9 units”-course at CMUQ is equivalent to 3 credit hours at VCUQ.

Georgetown University in Qatar (GUQ): (updated on: October 17, 2024)

The Spring 2025 schedule will be published on Monday October 28, 2024.
Students wishing to take an ARABxxx or FRENxxx course in Spring MUST have been registered for the previous level language course in the preceding semester or take a placement test. The placement test is online and must be completed at least one week prior to the first day of classes.
GUQ will begin receiving the cross-registration forms for Spring 2025 via email to the Associate Registrar at GU-Q from Sunday December 1, 2024. The forms should be complete with a clear, legible copy of the passport and sent with the attachment as a single email. Please name the file with the following convention:
- Last Name_First Name; Home Univ to Host University; Semester
- (e.g. Brown_Robert; CMUQ to GUQ; Spring25)
Incomplete forms will be returned to the student.
Forms must be typed – handwritten forms will not be processed.
The last day to receive cross-registration forms for Spring 2025 will be 1:00pm on Sunday December 15, 2024.
Classes start on Sunday January 5, 2025.
Registration depends on available seats in the required course (including language courses but excluding joint programs).
Students will be given a GUQ student ID card for access to the building and Library. This must be returned by the end of the semester, in order for your transcript to be issued. Students must complete the clearance form that can be found here.

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU): (updated on: October 17, 2024)

The Spring 2025 Course Schedule will be published on Thursday, November 21, 2024.
The Course Schedule can be viewed at: https://ssb.hbku.edu.qa/PROD9/bwckschd.p_disp_dyn_sched . Be sure to select the Spring 2025 semester.
HBKU accepts cross-registration requests from Nov 24, 2024 until January 16, 2025.
Students must email the completed Cross Registration Request form to registration@hbku.edu.qa along with a copy of their passport identification page(s).
The Spring 2025 semester starts on January 5, 2025.
Only undergraduate courses are open to Cross-Registration.

Northwestern University in Qatar (NUQ): (updated on: October 24, 2024)

For “Standard” Cross Registration

The Spring 2025 Course Schedule will be published on Thursday, 31st October 2024.
Please refer to the timetable and choose only courses designated as “Open to Cross Registration” on the timetable.
NUQ will start accepting cross-registration applications based on seat availability on Monday, December 2, 2024. Cross-registration forms will be accepted only if ses are available in the requested course. Please ensure the forms are complete and include a copy of your passport sent as an attachment in a single email. Incomplete forms will be returned to the student. Cross Registration Forms must be submitted by email at: studentrecords@qatar.northwestern.edu .
The deadline to submit Spring 2025 cross-registration applications to NUQ is Sunday, December 15, 2024, at 1:00 pm.
First day of Spring 2025 classes: Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Northwestern University in Qatar uses a semester unit system. For the purpose of transfer credit, one-semester unit is the equivalent of 4 semester hours.

Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ): (updated on: October 23)

The schedule of classes offered can be viewed online here, beginning on Thursday, November 21, 2024. Please remember to select “Spring 2025 – Qatar” from the drop-down menu.
Spring 2025 classes begin Sunday, January 4, 2025, and end Wednesday, April 23, 2025, with Finals scheduled for Sunday through Wednesday, April 27-30, 2025.
TAMUQ’s online application for cross-registration will open on Sunday, December 1, 2024, for Education City students.
The deadline for submitting cross-registration applications is Tuesday, December 31, 2024, at 4:00 p.m.
To apply for cross-registration, you must:
- Complete the Cross-Registration Online Application.
- Complete the Cross-University Registration Request.
- Submit proof of vaccination against bacterial meningitis and a tuberculosis screening available here. This form needs to be filled out and submitted before you can be registered for courses.
- Email the digitally signed and approved cross-registration request form and a copy of a valid passport to records@qatar.tamu.edu .
Note that US federal law requires TAMUQ, as an engineering school, to comply with export control policies related to information and technology. Therefore, students from certain countries may be required to submit additional documentation before being permitted to register for TAMUQ courses.

Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar (VCUarts Qatar):

Course Schedule. Please check the VCUarts Qatar Course Schedule available from your Home University Registrar.
Cross-registration forms are accepted starting Sunday, December 1, 2024 until Sunday, December 15, 2024 at 1:00pm.
A Math Placement Test is required for registration in MATH or STAT courses (other than MATH 001). The test is usually held only for the Fall semester, generally in early August.
An Arabic Placement Test is required for registration in ARBC courses. The test is usually held only for the Fall semester, generally in early August.
Registration for Cross Registration will commence on Sunday, December 1, 2024.
For “Standard” Cross Registration:
- Completed Cross Registration forms - including requisite approval signatures, must be submitted to VCUarts Qatar’s Department of Enrollment & Registration Services by email to Sylvia D’Souza, Senior Specialist, at sdsouza@vcu.edu .
- Cross Registration forms which are not completed in full, missing requisite signatures, or missing the passport copy will not be accepted or processed.
For “Special” Cross Registration (Film Minor with NUQ & Dual Enrollment with ABP)
- Completed Cross Registration forms are submitted to VCUarts Qatar by your home-institution’s Registrar.
- Please see your Registrar for requirements and deadlines.
All formalities re Cross Registration of EC students at VCUarts Qatar are handled exclusively by the Department of Enrollment & Registration Services.
Spring 2025 classes start on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.
Course instruction mode is expected to be in-person/in-classroom unless otherwise noted on the Course Schedule.
Registration for courses is conditional on the availability of seats.
Students who can be cross-registered in their preferred courses at VCUarts Qatar will be provided with a VCU-ID number as well as a VCU email address. Students must activate their VCU email. The VCU email is used for all official communications by the university, including by instructors.
VCUarts Qatar’s Department of Enrollment & Registration Services will notify students as to whether or not a student has been granted a seat in cross-registration status in the course(s) of interest.
Note that VCUarts Qatar complies with FERPA (US federal law) and the Virginia Code (Virginia state law) as it regards students' right to privacy of their educational records and contact information.

Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar (WCM-Q): (updated on: October 24, 2024)

Fill out the form online – handwritten forms will not be accepted.
Print it, sign it, and collect all signatures from your home university.
Forms must be submitted to the office of the Registrar at registrar@qatar-med.cornell.edu by 3:00pm, Thursday, December 19, 2024.
