Dean Sheikh recognized among Forbes Middle East’s Top Healthcare Leaders

Dr. Javaid Sheikh, dean of Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar (WCM-Q) has been named among Forbes Middle East’s Top Healthcare Leaders 2025, recognizing his exceptional contributions to advancing medical education, research, and healthcare innovation in the region.

This year’s top healthcare leaders highlight changemakers, executives, founders, and shareholders who are redefining the region’s healthcare ecosystem for the decade ahead. The 2025 edition includes 50 healthcare leaders who are founders and shareholders, together with 100 top executives and CEOs steering the region’s largest and most influential healthcare companies.

Since beginning his tenure at WCM-Q in 2010, Dr. Sheikh has pioneered several innovative biomedical research and education programs, positioning WCM-Q as a leading institution preparing “global physician-scientists” for the 21st century.

Dr. Sheikh has led the establishment of a truly world-class research infrastructure at WCM-Q, equipped with core laboratories with advanced capabilities in genomics, proteomics, transcriptomics, and metabolomics, among others. Additionally, he has established the “Artificial Intelligence Center for Precision Health” at WCM-Q, a pioneering initiative focused on exploring the potential of artificial intelligence and wearable technologies for the early detection and prediction of diabetes, autism, anxiety/depression, and women’s health issues such as gestational diabetes and postpartum depression.

Dr. Sheikh has led the conceptualization and implementation of comprehensive population health programs to advance health promotion and disease prevention for the Qatari population. Working in partnership with the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Sheikh is transforming women’s health and wellness with the launch of a comprehensive Arabic-language women’s health program, “Sehatuha.” He is also the driving force behind futuristic initiatives like “LifeHub,” a one-of-a-kind immersive educational experience leveraging artificial intelligence, technology, and foundational sciences.
