WCM-Q supports 17th Gulf Heart Association Conference

Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) presented a session on cardio-metabolic health at the 17th Gulf Heart Association Conference, which brought leading clinicians and researchers in the field to Doha from across the GCC and beyond.

The session, delivered by WCM-Q in collaboration with the conference organizers, featured presentations on managing elevated blood pressure, new updates in lipid-lowering medication, and a novel approach treating obesity in cardiac patients. The session wrapped with a panel discussion among four leading cardiology experts moderated by WCM-Q’s Dr. Charbel Abi Khalil, assistant dean of international affairs, professor of genetic medicine, medicine & population health sciences, and consultant cardiologist.

The expert speakers for the WCM-Q session were Prof. Abdullah Shehab, professor of cardiovascular medicine at UAE University and vice president of the Gulf Intervention Society; Dr. Khalid Al Rasadi, head of department of biochemistry at Sultan Qaboos University in Oman and head of the lipid and LDL-Apheresis unit at Sultan Qaboos University Hospital; and Prof. Shahrad Taheri, professor of medicine at WCM-Q and senior consultant in diabetes and endocrinology at the National Obesity Treatment Centre of Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC). The session took place on the second day of the three-day conference.

The conference, which was hosted in association with HMC, featured a day of hands-on workshops and two days covering numerous topics in general and advanced cardiology.
