WCM-Q professor receives Saudi International Vaccine Forum Award 2026
Prof. Laith Abu-Raddad of WCM-Q was presented with the Saudi International Vaccine Forum Award 2026 in Vaccine Research and Innovation at the 8th Saudi International Vaccination Forum in Riyadh.
Prof. Laith J. Abu-Raddad, professor of population health sciences at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q), has received the Saudi International Vaccine Forum Award 2026 in Vaccine Research and Innovation.
The award, sponsored by the government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, was presented on May 9, 2026, during the 8th Saudi International Vaccination Forum in Riyadh, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Saudi Vaccine Award recognizes outstanding contributions and innovations in vaccination, including excellence in vaccine research, development, and implementation. Awardees are selected by a panel of national, regional, and international experts in vaccinology, public health, and infectious diseases.
This recognition honors Prof. Abu-Raddad’s distinguished contributions to vaccine research for two decades. His work has advanced the field through rigorous cost-effectiveness analyses, innovative methods for estimating vaccine effectiveness, and quantitative frameworks for forecasting the population-level impact of vaccination policies and programs. By integrating epidemiologic study designs, mathematical modeling, and large-scale population data, his research has generated critical evidence on vaccine performance, durability of protection, optimal vaccination strategies, and the public health value of vaccine implementation.
Prof. Abu-Raddad leads the Infectious Disease Epidemiology Group at WCM-Q, and also holds the positions of director of the biostatistics, epidemiology and biomathematics research core, and associate dean for extramural research funding.
