WCM-Q connects with the healthcare community at Medicare
The Division of Continuing Professional Development (CPD) at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q) showcased its commitment to advancing professional development at Qatar’s first International Healthcare and Medical Trade Exhibition and Conference (Qatar Medicare).
The three-day event brought together healthcare professionals from around the world to connect and explore the latest trends, technologies, and innovations in the healthcare sector.
The CPD division participated as both an exhibitor and a Gold Sponsor, promoting WCM-Q, its medical education programs, research activities, and its wide range of continuing medical education courses, certificates, and workshops for physicians and other healthcare professionals.
Mr. Mohamed Ali Hammami, an education technologist at WCM-Q, delivered a presentation titled “Virtual Reality in Medical Training: Redefining Skill Development.” In his session, Mr. Hammami explored the transformative potential of virtual reality (VR) as a powerful tool for creating immersive, engaging, and interactive learning environments. He demonstrated how VR is revolutionizing medical education and advancing training methodologies.
The presentation highlighted real-world examples, such as how virtual simulations are reducing caregiver burden and stress while improving skill development and overall training efficiency. Additionally, Mr. Hammami outlined several advantages of using VR in medical education, such as simplifying complex topics, enhancing memory retention, increasing engagement among students and faculty, raising awareness about critical issues, and fostering innovation across institutions.
Deema Al-Sheikhly, director of medical education and continuing professional development at WCM-Q, said: “The conference was a wonderful opportunity to engage with a global community of healthcare professionals and showcase our world-class medical education and continuing professional development activities. Our programs are essential for the ongoing education and development of healthcare providers and the overall enhancement of healthcare delivery.”
All CPD activities at WCM-Q provide high-quality professional development opportunities for physicians and other healthcare professionals based on identified needs and the latest scientific and medical developments that will increase competence, enhance performance in practice, and lead to improved healthcare for patients.
In addition, WCM-Q activities are accredited locally in Qatar by the Ministry of Public Health’s Department of Healthcare Professions – Accreditation Section and internationally by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME).
