Vibrant September: Student Affairs and Club Activities
Club Fest connects students to clubs and associations at WCM-Q.
In September, Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar was bustling with activities organized by the Division of Student Affairs and student clubs and organizations.
The Division of Student Affairs hosted its annual Open House, welcoming both new and returning students to the 2024-2025 academic year. The event provided an opportunity for students to explore the division’s wide range of services and participate in fun-filled activities. The lively event, themed in vibrant red, featured delicious treats and a lineup of exciting games, including basketball, ping pong, Pictionary, and more. Five lucky students were awarded prizes for visiting all event stations.

The Medical Student Executive Council-Qatar (MSEC-Q) held elections to select new representatives for the 2024-2025 academic year. A total of 28 representatives were chosen, including final-year medical student Mohammed Khalid as MSEC-Q president and Ubaida Al-Aani from the Class of 2028 as vice president.

The elected representatives for each class include:
- Fourth-year medical: Hala Osama Ahmed Fouad (class president), Nuran Bayraktar, Siddhant Nair, and Aisha Serpedin
- Third-year medical: Yazan Kaddorah (class president), Maryam Arabi, Aqib Abdul Rahman, and Yousef Al-Najjar
- Second-year medical: Reem Al-Janahi (class president), Fatima Jassim Al Mohammed, Raghad Ibrahim, and Ahmed El-Naas
- First-year medical: Abdulrahman Al-Namla (class president), Sama Ayoub, Zena Sinan, and Ranad Beitelmal
- Second-year pre-medical: Mariam Al Aloosi (class president), Batoul Arabi, Ali Al-Kuwari, and Mian Farid Said
- First-year pre-medical: Fatima Marafi (class president), Maryam Sohail, Laiba Qureshi, and Sama Al-Saffar
- Foundation: Noof Ebrahim Al-Malik (class president) and Khalid Hamad Al-Marri
MSEC-Q also hosted its annual Club Fest, a vibrant platform for students to learn about the 34 registered student clubs and associations at WCM-Q. Students also had the opportunity to engage with off-campus community organizations, such as the Doha Film Institute and Best Buddies.
The Weill Cornell Debate Society organized an event titled ‘Medical Aid in Sudan,’ featuring Dr. Muddather Ahmed Yahya Basher, a Sudanese medical doctor who shared his incredible journey of performing life-saving surgery after swimming through floodwaters. The event highlighted the challenges healthcare professionals face in Sudan, shedding light on the emotional and ethical dilemmas in medicine.

The Obstetrics and Gynecology & Women’s Health Interest Group and the Family Medicine Interest Group, both student-led clubs, hosted an interactive event to raise awareness about Polycystic Ovary Syndrome (PCOS), a hormonal condition affecting women of reproductive age. The event, themed in light blue and teal, highlighted the challenges PCOS poses to women’s quality of life and included discussions on its symptoms, diagnosis, and management.
