In October, WCM-Q student clubs and organizations hosted a diverse range of events, both on and off campus, with support from the Division of Student Affairs.

The Medical Student Executive Council-Qatar (MSEC-Q) organized Charity Week 2025, featuring a weeklong series of activities in which WCM-Q students worked together to raise funds, compete across Education City campuses, and manage donation boxes. Coordinated in collaboration with the Education Above All Foundation, the initiative aimed to support access to education for vulnerable children. As part of the event, the WCM-Q Swim Club hosted a casual swim session with a fun relay race at the Qatar Foundation Recreation Center.

To mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Obstetrics and Gynecology & Women’s Health Interest Group collaborated with various student clubs to host a Breast Cancer Awareness event to raise awareness of the most common cancer found in women globally, while highlighting the importance of screening, early detection, and intervention. The event featured numerous interactive and informative stations hosted by the Student Affairs Health and Wellness team and the Institute for Population Health. The Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery Interest Group also hosted WCM-Q alumna Dr. Aldana Shahbik, now a resident in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Hamad Medical Corporation and Dr. Caitlin Huckell, instructor in clinical obstetrics and gynecology at WCM-Q, who focused on breast reconstruction options for breast cancer patients.

The Student Affairs Health and Wellness team hosted World Mental Health Day to raise awareness about mental health issues and equip students with coping skills and strategies for their wellbeing. The event featured stations for planting, painting, crocheting, and a meditation room.

The Desi Culture Club, in collaboration with Northwestern University in Qatar (NU-Q), hosted the Desi Night Celebration on the NU-Q campus, featuring a lineup of performances to celebrate South Asian culture. The event showcased the richness of Desi heritage through attire, food, music, and dance performances. It aimed to foster meaningful community relationships among Education City students.

In recognition of World Thrombosis Awareness Day, the Hematology & Oncology Interest Group organized an event to spread awareness about thrombosis, a condition characterized by the formation of blood clots in blood vessels. The event featured interactive activities that helped inform participants about the condition and its management.

To gain a better understanding of the neurology specialty, the Student Interest Group in Neurology organized a session with Dr. Matthew E. Fink, chair of neurology at Weill Cornell Medicine, who delivered a talk and answered student questions.

The Chess Club hosted a Faculty-versus-Student Chess Tournament. This friendly competition promoted engagement between faculty and students outside the classroom and encouraged critical thinking and strategic skills through chess.

The Muslim Student Association hosted the Halaqa Opening Session, which promoted the teaching and recitation of the Quran. Each week, topics related to the Quran are discussed.

The Cornellian Book Club organized a Murder Mystery event to connect readers with the theme of their current book of the month, And Then There Were None. Teams participated in a scavenger hunt based on clues from the book.

Additionally, Student Reach participated in the annual beach cleanup exercise organized by the Doha Environmental Actions Project (DEAP Qatar Conservation). The group collected waste at the Singing Sand Dunes near the Nega Bu Brika area.
