November was a vibrant month for WCM-Q student clubs and organizations as they participated in and hosted a wide range of events, both on and off campus, with support from the Division of Student Affairs.

The Medical Student Executive Council-Qatar (MSEC-Q) organized its annual Winter Fest, formerly known as Basant, to mark the end of the fall semester. The event, held on the Green Spine, offered fun-filled activities for participants of all ages. This year, the Qatari Student Association collaborated with MSEC-Q to add a unique theme to the festival by including numerous Qatari board games, food, arts, and crafts, among others, to celebrate Qatar National Day.

MSEC-Q also held the annual Wacky Week, during which students wore different themes from Sunday to Thursday to build a stronger student community on campus. Additionally, MSEC-Q organized the Student-Faculty Majlis to provide a platform for students to meet, interact, and engage with faculty members.

The Quintessential Quill Arts Club held a Photography Walk at North Sedra Farm to help students discover the natural beauty of Qatar and encourage them to document nature through photography.

To mark World Stroke Awareness Day, the Neurosurgery Interest Group (NSIG) hosted an event to raise awareness about stroke symptoms, risk factors, and prevention strategies. The NSIG also hosted its annual Advanced Suturing Lab workshops to provide medical students with practical and structured exposure to a range of suturing techniques.

To mark World Diabetes Day, the Endocrinology Interest Group hosted an event that tackled topics related to the disease, offering people a better understanding of this chronic condition.

The Emergency Medicine Interest Group (EMIG) hosted the EMIG Case Study, a student-led interactive session demonstrating how to respond in emergency medical situations. The club also organized an edutainment Kahoot Trivia Challenge focused on emergency medicine topics to raise awareness and interest in the field while promoting peer learning and community engagement in a relaxed and competitive environment. Additionally, the Trauma Surgery Interest Group organized a VR Trauma Simulation that let students experience an emergency case from a surgeon‘s perspective.

The Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology Interest Groups hosted The Ultimate GI-orpardy Showdown, a Jeopardy-style competition with questions related to internal medicine and gastroenterology.

The Cornell ENT Society hosted ENT – Meet Your Senses to introduce the society to students and foster interest in the field, with booths dedicated to the ear, nose, and throat.

The Desi Culture Club performed at the FIFA U-17 World Cup™ fan zone at Khalifa International Stadium, celebrating cultural heritage and adding to the festive atmosphere. Additionally, the Weill Cornell Music Club gave a vocal performance during the semifinals.

The Cardiology Interest Group participated in the 17th Gulf Heart Association Conference, offering volunteers to assist the Heart Hospital team at Hamad Medical Corporation and the Gulf Heart Association with logistical tasks.

Additionally, a group of students showcased two activations at the 12th edition of the World Innovation Summit for Education (WISE), highlighting innovation in medical education. The displays included an interactive virtual reality medical training experience that allowed participants to explore human anatomy and clinical scenarios in a fully immersive digital environment, and a hands-on AI-powered ultrasound demonstration (Butterfly iQ) to enhance diagnostic learning and clinical decision-making.

The Student Affairs Health and Wellness team collaborated with the Psychiatric Interest Group to organize Movember: Men’s Health Awareness Campaign, highlighting key men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and mental health.

The Weill Cornell Debate Society, in collaboration with Doha Debates, organized an online Doha Debate Portal for WCM-Q students, while the Cornellian Book Club held its first meeting to discuss the book of the month.

The Student Reach, the Muslim Students Association, and the Class of 2028 hosted Keep an Eye on Sudan to highlight the humanitarian crisis affecting communities in Sudan, specifically in Al-Fashir.

The Instilling the Qualities and Roots of Arabic Club hosted an Arabic Calligraphy Class for students, while the Bond and Blend Club organized Charm Your Stethoscopes for first-year medical students to decorate their new stethoscopes.
