In this elective, students will evaluate and manage pediatric patients with all types of emergencies, except major trauma, under close supervision by pediatric emergency medicine attending. They will take responsibility for care of patients appropriate to their training, participate in a curriculum designed to enhance their knowledge and skills, encouraged to reflect on attitudes related to professionalism and humanistic practices, get exposed to ethical and culturally sensitive issues related to patient care in a emergency room setting. They will also be involved with social services and community follow up of emergency room patients.
