Prof. Ziyad M. Hijazi is the
chief medical officer at Sidra Medicine. He is also the executive chair of pediatric medicine and has clinical privileges in cardiology.
Prof. Hijazi is an internationally recognized leader in the nonsurgical repair of congenital and structural heart defects and in development of novel transcatheter devices and their use in the closure of para valvar mitral and aortic leaks. In addition to performing several firsts in cardiac surgeries and valve implantations, Prof. Hijazi is the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Structural Heart Disease, has had more than 350 manuscripts published in peer-reviewed journals and he has edited eight books.
He is also the chair of the Pediatric Interventional Cardiac Symposium (PICS), which annually attracts more than 800 professionals from more than 60 countries. Prior to joining Sidra Medicine in 2014, Prof. Hijazi was the director of the Rush Center for Congenital and Structural Heart Diseases at Rush University Medical Center in the USA.
