Profile

Dr. Ali Chaari is an Associate Professor of Biology at Weill Cornell Medicine–Qatar with an interest in the field of biochemistry and translational biomedical research. He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Biology (FRSB). He received his PhD in Biochemistry and Biophysics from Versailles University (France), following engineering training in biological sciences in Tunisia.

Dr. Chaari’s work integrates research, teaching, and academic leadership, with a focus on advancing biochemistry education and research capacity. At Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar, he contributes to curriculum development and delivers teaching across the premedical and medical programs. His teaching approach emphasizes case-based learning, research integration, and the use of innovative technologies to enhance student engagement and scientific understanding.

His research program lies at the intersection of chemical biology and biomedicine, with particular focus on protein and peptide aggregation, amyloid-related diseases, microbiome-based interventions, and metabolic and neurodegenerative disorders. He has led and contributed to multiple funded research projects and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations. He is also committed to mentoring students and trainees, supporting their development into independent researchers.

Dr. Chaari is actively engaged in institutional and professional service. He serves as Secretary of the American Chemical Society Qatar Chapter and contributes to academic committees, outreach initiatives, and regional capacity-building efforts. He is also involved in editorial and peer-review activities for international scientific journals.

His contributions have been recognized through multiple awards for excellence in teaching, research mentorship, and outreach. Through his work, Dr. Chaari continues to advance interdisciplinary research, promote innovation in science education, and contribute to the development of future scientists in Qatar and beyond
