After graduating from WCM-Q in 2012, Dr. Al Jerdi moved to the United States to pursue his clinical training, completing his internship in internal medicine at New York Medical College’s Westchester Medical Center in 2013 and his residency in neurology at the University of Vermont Medical Center in 2016. He then went on to complete a vascular neurology fellowship at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics.

Throughout his time in the United States, Dr. Al Jerdi was heavily involved in medical student and resident education. During his neurology residency, he was officially appointed an instructor of neurology at the University of Vermont’s Larner College of Medicine. He also co-developed the first formal neurology Board Review course and the first Introduction to Clinical Neurology course aimed at resident education. In 2015, he was the recipient of the Arnold P. Gold Foundation Humanism and Excellence in Teaching Award.

Dr. Al Jerdi was a sub-investigator in multiple clinical trials on Cerebrovascular Disease, including NAVIGATE ESUS, POINT, DEFUSE III, SHiNE, iDEF, and others. His research interests currently involve managing acute ischemic stroke, stroke recovery, and innovation in medical education. His professional interests include disparities in healthcare and healthcare management.
