The Organizing Committee of the Updates in Primary Care Conference (UPCC 2026) invites abstract submissions for poster presentations focused on outpatient medicine, with an emphasis on relevance to primary care practice in Qatar and the region.
Abstracts should reflect innovative, evidence-based, and practice-enhancing work related to ambulatory care. We welcome submissions on topics including, but not limited to:
✅ Clinical research in primary care
✅ Educational research in outpatient or family medicine
✅ Case reports with diagnostic or management challenges
✅ Innovation in outpatient medicine (care models, digital health, QI)
All abstracts will be peer-reviewed and must align with the conference theme. Each participant may submit and present only one abstract as the primary author. Co-authorship of additional abstracts is allowed, but each person may only be the presenting author on one submission. The submitting author is responsible for communicating with all co-authors. Notification of acceptance will be sent within two weeks of the submission deadline.

Title: Max 15 words, descriptive, no punctuation or quotation marks
Length: Max 300 words (excluding title and authors)

- Research: Background, Methods, Results, Conclusion
- Case Reports: Background, Case Description, Discussion
Case Report Submissions:
Case reports should be prepared using the format above and submitted as a PDF via email to upcc@qatar-med.cornell.edu. Case report authors must also complete the online submission form by providing their personal/demographic information, entering “N/A – Case Report” in the Abstract Information fields, and completing the remaining applicable sections of the form.

Use of Artificial Intelligence (AI)
Authors must disclose the use of generative AI, large language models, machine learning, or similar AI-assisted technologies used to create or substantively assist with content in their submission. AI tools must not be listed as authors, and authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, originality, integrity, and appropriate referencing of all submitted content.
Basic tools used solely for spelling and grammar checking do not require disclosure. Where AI has been used as part of the research design, methods, analysis, content creation, or other substantive assistance, its use should be appropriately described and declared during submission.

All accepted abstracts will be presented as posters at the conference.
Registration Requirement for Accepted Abstracts
There is no fee to submit an abstract. However, abstract submission and conference registration are separate processes.
If an abstract is accepted, the presenting author must register for UPCC 2026 by November 5, 2026 to confirm their participation and for the abstract to be included in the final conference program. Abstract acceptance does not constitute conference registration.
Accepted abstracts may be removed from the conference program if the presenting author has not registered by November 5, 2026.
Registration fee for Accepted Abstract Presenters
Students whose abstracts are accepted will receive complimentary registration (100% registration fee waiver) for UPCC 2026. The presenting author must still complete the conference registration process by November 5, 2026, using the instructions provided with the abstract outcome notification.
Non-student authors whose abstracts are accepted will be eligible for the Early Bird registration rate until November 5, 2026 and must complete their registration by this date to confirm participation.
Detailed registration instructions, including information on how to access the applicable registration rate or waiver, will be provided with the abstract outcome notification.
About UPCC 2026
UPCC 2026 is a two-day conference taking place on December 4–5, 2026, in Doha, Qatar. Hosted by WCM-Q alumni, it will feature case-based, specialist-led sessions highlighting the latest evidence and best clinical practices for managing common adult conditions in primary care.The conference offers targeted learning, professional development, and networking for primary care physicians, general practitioners, and family medicine professionals in Qatar.
Low and Middle-Income Country Awards (LMICA)
We are pleased to announce the Low and Middle-Income Country Awards (LMICA) for UPCC 2026. Attendees from low and middle-income countries are eligible to apply for a Travel Award to support their attendance at the conference. Two recipients will be selected based on abstract assessment. For these winners, airfare will be provided along with complimentary conference registration to offset travel expenses. The notification date for award recipients will be communicated soon.
Eligibility for LMICA applicants:
- Current residence and study/work in a low-income and middle-income country (please view here).
- Submission of an abstract for poster presentation with the LMICA Travel Award option selected.
