Hamad General Hospital and the Women’s Hospital are the current primary venues for WCMC-Q student education and faculty teaching practice. For Hamad General Hospital for the year 2005, there were 25,145 admissions, with an average length of stay of 7 days. During that year, there were 345,700 visits by adults to the Emergency Department and 190,596 to children's urgent care centers. For the Women’s Hospital, there were 23,885 admissions in 2005, approximately 75% of which were maternity related. A breadth of fascinating clinical material encompassing patients of all ages and races makes the inpatient services at these two hospitals a highly rewarding place for compassionate care of patients as well as training of physicians, nurses, and other allied health professions. WCMC-Q physicians have obtained privileges at these hospitals and provide teaching and clinical care as part of their student curriculum teaching assignments and a way of giving back to HMC for the student teaching provided by more than 80 HMC physicians who have been appointed as WCMC-Q clinical faculty at the Doha campus.
