In order to become a faculty member at WCM-Q, it is a prerequisite to qualify for and secure a faculty appointment at Weill Cornell Medical (WCM) in New York and/or Cornell University (CU) in Ithaca. Generally, faculty who teach in the pre-medical program have appointments in the undergraduate disciplines at the Ithaca campus of CU; all other faculty, including those in basic sciences, clinical disciplines, and research, usually hold appointments at WCM in New York. Qualified faculty members may teach in both the pre-medical and medical programs (click here for information about our education program).
Our faculty is drawn from a number of different sources: our core faculty, directly employed by WCM-Q and resident in Qatar year round; visiting faculty based at WCM or CU, who travel to Qatar for short periods to assist in the delivery of their subject matter; and voluntary faculty, usually physicians at our affiliated institutions (Hamad Medical Corporation, ASPETAR - Qatar Orthopaedic and Sports Medicine Hospital, Sidra Medical and Research Center and Primary Health Care Corporation) who have received faculty appointments in the appropriate WCM clinical department, and who play a valued role in supporting the College’s mission in Qatar by overseeing the clinical education of WCM-Q students rotating through their institutions.Faculty at WCM-Q
