Fabian Wendt pursues a doctorate in the Chemical and Systems Biology laboratory at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Switzerland. His main interest centers around the investigation of host-pathogen biology with an emphasis on deciphering virus-induced proteotype changes. He studied Biochemistry at the Ruhr-University in Bochum, Germany. Here, he first examined protein-metabolite interactions by NMR spectroscopy during his Bachelor of Science and subsequently focused on the quantitative analysis of proteins during his masters' degree. In his MSc thesis, he established a proteomic application for the identification of body fluid traces by protein mass spectrometry for forensic purposes at the Medical Proteome-Center in Bochum, Germany. Afterwards, Fabian moved to Zurich to join the research group of Prof. Bernd Wollscheid at the Institute of Molecular Systems Biology, ETH Zurich, Switzerland. In his multidisciplinary PhD project, he drives the development and application of new chemo-proteomic technologies to decode the extracellular virus-host protein-protein interaction landscape. As a PhD student he is actively embedded within the Molecular and Translational Biomedicine Program of the Life Science Zurich Graduate School.
