Genetic muscular weakness diseases involves many large groups of disorders affecting the muscle motor and nerve unit. These groups vary in their genetic causes, there are so many different genes contributing, in addition these genes may be transmitted from parent to children in different patterns of inheritance. This plays a principal role in genetic counselling and informative decision about the recurrence risk in relatives, which is basically determined by the pattern of genetic inheritance.
Muscle weakness diseases’ manifestations may show since birth in the form of decreased muscles tone or associated symptoms of respiratory failure or feeding problems. On the other hand, muscle weakness and atrophy may start to appear later in life at the early, mid, or late childhood or even at adolescent or adult age.
Genetic muscle diseases among other inherited diseases have made a fortunate of the new innovative technologies in new modalities of emerging therapeutics.
This Public forum will convey the most recent and up to date information about the early diagnosis, prevention of disease recurrence in other relatives, the best health care guidelines, and the new therapeutics of certain muscle diseases.
The Public form on 13th January is inviting patients with genetic muscle diseases, families, and members of the general Doha public to meet with the experts in this field. The forum will be highly interactive allowing free opportunities for the patients and/or their families to discuss and forward their questions to a panel of distinguished international and local physicians and scientists specifically working in the field of genetic muscle diseases. One of the international expert is particularly concerned with the patients’ perception of their condition and can advise on how to overcome.
The afternoon-evening public forum will be from 2.00-5.00pm at QNCC, parking and VIP access will be available for the patients using wheel chairs making it comfortable for them to reach the exhibition hall 2 on the first floor. Lunch will be served in the same hall.
