Ravinder Mamtani, MD, MSc, FACPM, FACOEM, ABoIM, Dip ABLM
Ravinder Mamtani, MD is a specialist in occupational and preventive medicine, lifestyle medicine, integrative medicine and public health. Dr. Mamtani is a Professor of Population Health Sciences, Professor of Medicine (Center for Global Health) and Vice Dean for Student Affairs-Admissions, Population Health, and Lifestyle Medicine, at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q). He is also a Professor of Community and Family Medicine (adjunct) at New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York.
Prior to joining WCM-Q in 2007, Dr. Mamtani was a Professor of Clinical Community and Preventive Medicine and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College; and a physician in Occupational Medicine and Complementary Medicine at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York. He has several years of clinical experience in utilizing integrative and lifestyle medicine in the treatment of chronic diseases such as chronic pain, arthritis, mental health conditions and gastrointestinal problems. Also, he used lifestyle medicine approaches such as nutrition and physical activity in managing patients with obesity, dyslipidemia and diabetes.
Dr. Mamtani developed and directed the Master of Public Health (MPH) in International Health and the Diploma in Tropical Medicine programs while at New York Medical College. At WCM-Q, Dr. Mamtani has developed various innovative public health, lifestyle medicine and other education programs/activities. Additionally, as a Principal Investigator of an R-25 research grant from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Cancer Institute, he developed new curricula on nutrition and cancer for medical students at the college (1991-95).
Dr. Mamtani has been an invited speaker on various topics in the US and abroad and has published in prestigious peer reviewed journals. As a monthly columnist (2001- 07) for a local newspaper in New York, he wrote on contemporary health issues such as vegetarian diets, lifestyle medicine, mind body medicine, and many other topics.
Dr. Mamtani serves or has served on many government, hospital, and medical school committees. He is a member of the prestigious New York State Board of Professional Medical Conduct and Lifestyle Medicine Global Alliance, and past chair of the Global Educational Exchange in Medicine (GEMx) Advisory Committee of Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG), based in Philadelphia, US. In the State of Qatar, Dr. Mamtani serves on several government and healthcare system-sponsored committees.
Dr. Mamtani is a diplomate of the American Board of Preventive Medicine in the specialties of Preventive Medicine and Occupational Medicine. He is also US Board Certified in Lifestyle Medicine and Integrative Medicine.
