Summary

The symposium aims to maximize the benefits of the educational modality through the adoption of guidelines and best practices from experts in the field. Expert facilitators from the multi-institutional Qatar Simulation Consortium were consulted to identify and steer the programming to meet the needs of the Qatar healthcare community in regards to evidence-based methods in simulation-based medical education.

Simulation has the potential to improve the safety of health care by allowing health care practitioners to acquire valuable experience, in a variety of clinical settings, without putting patients at risk.

On behalf of the Scientific Committee, I welcome you all, to enjoy and learn from another exciting day of simulation based education at the Weill Cornell Medicine –Qatar Campus in Education City on September 29th, 2018, as we launch our 2nd Annual Symposium on Optimizing Health Professions Education with Simulation-Based Learning.

Upon participant’s feedback, this year we will have a wider array of workshops, and these will be offered twice, permitting each attendee to savor and learn from two highly interactive workshops, within the same day.

A plenary will be presented by Dr. Ralf Krage, immediate past president of SESAM titled “Life Long learning – it is easier said than done!”.

Several panel presentations and discussions will offer you updates on the successes and future goals that participating health professions schools and health providing institutions in Qatar have to offer.

A new panel will present to you the journey of trainees from all these schools and health professions institutions, as we learn together, how to optimize our efforts to meet the needs of the 21st century learners..

Come and build new ties and learn about the innovative work that goes on here in Qatar, at the new event – The Sim Souq.
