Dr. Stella Major is a professor of family medicine teaching in medicine in the Division of Medical Education at Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar (WCM-Q). She obtained her medical degree from Imperial College School of Medicine in London and specialized in general practice at Northwick Park Hospital, London. She holds diplomas in child health (DCH), obstetrics and gynecology (DRCOG), and family planning (DFFP) and is board-certified in general practice in the U.K. She is a member of the Royal College of General Practitioners (MRCGP-UK) and a fellow of the Royal College of General Practice (FRCGP-UK) for her contributions to education, research, and clinical practice both in the U.K. and internationally. She maintains an active license to practice as a general practitioner in both the U.K. and Qatar.
She is a lead educator for the Patient Care and Physicianship Unit in the Essential Principles of Medicine course. She also serves as director of the Clinical Skills and Simulation Lab at WCM-Q, overseeing the effective integration of simulation-based learning and assessment activities in the medical curriculum, and as a faculty mentor for the Medical Education Research Lab on virtual reality technology to enhance empathy and humanism in medicine.
She has received numerous awards for teaching and educational innovation, as well as grants for course design and research in medical education. She is the deputy national representative to the International Association for Communication in Healthcare (EACH) and a faculty mentor to WCM-Q medical students interested in exploring the use of virtual reality in medical education.
Dr. Major is of British-Armenian heritage, speaks numerous languages, and has a keen interest in linguistics, dance (traditional and modern), and photography.
