Gerhardus Kuiper, MD

Gerhardus J.A.J.M. Kuiper, MD, is a resident in Training at the Department of Anesthesiology and Pain Treatment of the Maastricht UMC+ located in the Netherlands. He finished his medical education at the Maastricht University in 2010. In his last year of medical education Dr Kuiper started his research under the supervision of Dr M. Lancé. He then continued his research at the CARIM school at the Maastricht University under the guidance of Prof. H Ten Cate in the field of thromboelastometry and transfusion practice.
In July of 2012, he participated as a fellow at the Weill Cornell Seminar ‘Sever Bleeding Management’ in Salzburg, AT, and was awarded among his class for an ‘Excellent Case Presentation’ titled ‘Minor Surgery, Major Bleeding’. He received the 2012 ‘ISTH Young Investigators Award’ at the 58th Annual Meeting of the Scientific & Standardization Committee (SSC) of the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH). He has moderated several session at national and international conventions on thrombosis and hemostasis.
In December of 2012 Dr. Kuiper started his training in anesthesiology and pain treatment, while continuing his research. He has published and co-authored several papers and one book chapter. Dr Kuiper regularly peer reviews for Medicine and other journals.
A native of Maastricht, Dr Kuiper returned to Maastricht to start his medical career after 20 years and currently resides just opposite to the Maastricht UMC+.
