Hanya Qureshi is a second-year medical student at the Yale School of Medicine (YSM). She holds a bachelor’s degree in neuroscience and behavior from Columbia University and is the co-founder of Yale Global Health - Students United for Regional and Global Education (SURGE). The SURGE program has brought together nearly 60 students of the health professional, business, and law from 14 different countries and five different continents to discuss important global health topics and design innovative health solutions together as a global team. Hanya also serves as the founder & co-developer of the UN Ivy STEM Connect Program, which aims to encourage increased participation in STEM subjects by high school girls from traditionally underrepresented regions internationally using a participatory peer-learning approach. She remains interested in neurosurgery, ophthalmology and global health and works with mentors both locally and internationally on a variety of research projects
