Jochen M. Schwenk is a professor in translational proteomics at the KTH Royal Institute of Technology in Stockholm, Sweden, and holds a PhD in biochemistry. His primary interest is studying the circulating blood proteins to map the differences and variations of proteins between individuals, health, and disease states. His lab is located at the Science for Life Laboratory, where his team works on various aspects of the biomarker analysis pipeline, including study design, pre-analytical variables, micro-sampling, assay development, data integration, and emerging translational possibilities. His team is engaged in various interdisciplinary research projects across different phenotypes, such as infectious, cardiometabolic, and inflammatory diseases, breast cancer, and wellness. Jochen is a key opinion leader in plasma proteomics, a member of the Human Protein Atlas, scientific director of SciLifeLab’s Affinity Proteomics Unit, elected member of HUPO’s Council, and a chair of the Human Plasma Proteome Project.
