Marco A.E. Marcus, MD
Dr. Abraham ‘Marco’ Marcus is the chairman of the Department of Anesthesiology, ICU, and Perioperative Medicine at Hamad Medical Corporation in Qatar, and a member of the corporate executive management team of Hamad General Hospital, Hamad Women’s Hospital, and Medical City. Within Hamad Medical Corporation, he is chairman of the Committee for Intellectual Property and Value Improvement. He is also a member of the IP committee in Qatar Foundation. As adjunct-professor of clinical anesthesiology at Weill Cornell Medicine - Qatar, professor of anesthesiology at Qatar University and apl-professor in Muenster, he leads students, residents and fellowship programs.
Dr. Marcus’ research focuses on the transition of acute pain into chronic pain, blood management, and innovative materials in anesthesia. He has been the winner of several prizes; co-authored 160 cited articles, 50 non-cited articles, and several book chapters, and has been invited to appear as a guest speaker on more than 300 occasions. He has also advised several pharmaceutical companies and has established various start-up companies. He has several patents in his name.
