Ms. Amal Al Farsi is a healthcare leader and Certified Health Literacy Specialist with extensive experience spanning clinical practice, healthcare management, health literacy, and patient and family education. She is a strong advocate for clear, equitable healthcare communication and for empowering patients and families to participate meaningfully in their care. 

She began her career as a physiotherapist, serving at Hamad Medical Corporation and Ehsan from 2000 to 2012. She holds a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from Jordan University of Science and Technology, a master’s degree in healthcare management from the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland, and a Post-Diploma Certificate in Patient Education from the College of the North Atlantic–Qatar. 

 Ms. Al Farsi currently leads the Health and Wellness Education Department at Sidra Medicine, where she has been instrumental in shaping and advancing the organization’s approach to health literacy and patient and family education. Her work focuses on embedding health literacy into healthcare practice, strengthening the quality and accessibility of patient education, and building the capability of clinical and non-clinical staff to communicate health information effectively. 

Under her leadership, Sidra Medicine’s Health Literacy Program has expanded through strategic initiatives including the Annual Health Literacy Conference, workforce education, and monthly health literacy workshops. These initiatives support a more consistent, organization-wide approach to clear communication, patient understanding, and active participation in care. 

Beyond Sidra Medicine, Ms. Al Farsi contributes to national health priorities as a member of the Health Literacy Strategy Task Force and the Cancer Awareness Group under Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health. Through her organizational and national roles, she continues to champion health literacy as a foundation for patient safety, equitable care, informed decision-making, and better health outcomes.
