Dr. Sathyanarayanan Doraiswamy

Dr. Sathyanarayanan Doraiswamy is Assistant Director at the Institute for Population Health (IPH), Weill Cornell Medicine-Qatar. He participates in IPH’s teaching, research, community awareness and other relevant population health activities. Sathya has 20 years of experience as a public health professional while working in Asia, Sub-Saharan Africa and in Europe within governmental and non-governmental organizations, and in the United Nations. He has considerable experience in teaching and public health research. He has expertise in supporting humanitarian public health responses for conflict affected populations. His special interests include refugee health and sexual and reproductive health, and health systems strengthening particularly in fragile settings. He also has considerable experience in managing teams, budgeting, strategic planning and operationalizing projects. He has published in peer reviewed journals and presented at several global conferences. He is a medical doctor, with Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) qualifications in Community Medicine from Chennai, India. He is also currently pursuing a Professional Doctorate at the University of Bath, United Kingdom, studying physician patient communication in caesarean sections decision making in public sector hospitals of Bangladesh.
