Sara M. Al Shafai
Sara Mohammed Al Shafai was born in Qatar. In 2021, she received her BA in Art History at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts in Qatar. She is particularly interested in studying the role of language, art and culture in the formation of individual and collective identities. Her work often explores the complexity of the human being, and the interconnectedness between individuals through time and space. She is also curious about theories in social science, particularly in relation to human communication and creative expression. Her most recent ethnographic research has focused on student engagement in online learning, with a specific focus on higher education in Qatar. As a research assistant and project coordinator, she has been actively exploring the best practices in online teaching and learning, in addition to identifying any challenges or barriers related.
Sara currently works as a guide at the National Museum of Qatar, continually exploring, through archival research and dialogue, the historical and social factors that helped define the national identity.
