Galvin, Brian was joint editor of Growing Community Health Literacy through Libraries: Sharing Global Perspectives, a collection of essays by library professionals and academics, published by De Gruyter in 2020.   He worked for many years in special libraries before moving into research management in the drugs, alcohol and addiction field.  He has a strong interest in information and research policy and in 2019 was joint author of Ireland’s National Framework for Transition to an Open Research Environment. He has served as Chair of IFLA’s Health and Biosciences section and Chair of Ireland’s Health Science Libraries Group.  In 2017 he helped draft Ireland’s national drugs strategy and has commissioned several evidence reviews on drug-related topics.  He was Consultant Contributor on The Encyclopaedia of Ireland (2002).  He holds masters degrees in philosophy and in library and information studies.
