Arlene Acallar Masaba, RN, MSN is the Clinical Simulation Centre (CSC) Coordinator for University of Calgary in Qatar (UCQ). She obtained her baccalaureate in Nursing from De Ocampo Memorial College in the Philippines and her Master of Science in Nursing from D’Youville College, New York, USA.Her background in teaching various levels and stages of education in the Philippines combined with her 15-year experience as pediatric nurse at the Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids), Toronto, Ontario, Canada provided her the best opportunity to transition to the Nurse Instructor role. She was a member of the first Teaching Scholars Program (2016) of SickKids and University of Toronto Continuing Professional Development.

As CSC coordinator at UCQ, her focus is on the exploration, support and application of simulation as a teaching modality to maximize student learning success. Arlene is also the Lead for UCQ’s candidacy for Best Practice Spotlight Organization (BPSO) designation from the Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO).
