Dr. Suryanarayanan Sethumadavan is a physician with over 26 years of clinical experience. He holds a specialisation in Occupational Medicine from Edith Cowan University, Australia, and a master’s degree in healthcare administration. He is also a Lead Occupational Health and Wellness Auditor (ISO 45001) with IRCA London. Currently he serves as Health Advisor to Qatar’s Public Works Authority (Ashghal) and is a member of the Ministry of Public Health’s National Health Strategy Core Committee, with a focus on workplace wellness program.

A pioneer in preventive and workplace health, Dr. Surya has led large-scale mental and physical health screening initiatives benefiting thousands of workers across Ashghal projects. He works closely with Qatar’s Ministry of Labour, Ministry of Public Health, National Human Rights Committee, and the International Labour Organization (ILO) to advance workplace health, wellbeing, and global occupational health standards.

Passionate about holistic wellbeing and Lifestyle Medicine, Dr. Surya advocates for a proactive approach to health emphasizing prevention, healthy living, and sustained wellbeing rather than reactive treatment.

Under his leadership as Health Advisor, Ashghal has received several prestigious international health and safety recognitions, including the Brit Safe London Healthcare Initiative of the Year Award and Team of the Year Award, the RoSPA Award from the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents, and recognition from Harvard Business School.

Outside of his professional commitments, Dr. Surya enjoys tennis, swimming and reading.
