People are living longer than ever before, yet many of those additional years are accompanied by chronic disease, multimorbidity, disability, and rising healthcare needs. As populations age, healthcare and global health systems face growing challenges related to prevention, healthspan, workforce preparedness, healthcare delivery, and health policy. These trends are highlighting important gaps between traditional disease-focused models of care and the evolving needs of individuals and populations in the longevity era, which increasingly require approaches that promote healthspan, prevention, wellbeing, and healthy ageing.

Reimagining Healthcare and Global Health in the Longevity Era symposium hosted by the Global Institute for Population Health, will explore healthcare blind spots in the changing healthcare landscape, including the rising burden of non-communicable diseases and multimorbidity, healthy ageing, prevention, lifestyle medicine, healthcare delivery and communication challenges, scientific wellness, artificial intelligence, and other emerging approaches to improving population health.

Bringing together healthcare professionals, public health practitioners, policymakers, academics, and other stakeholders, the symposium will examine the role of health policy and cross-sector partnerships in addressing the factors that influence health and healthy longevity. Through expert presentations and discussion, participants will explore opportunities to strengthen healthcare delivery, translate evidence into practice and policy, and advance healthcare systems that support longer and healthier populations globally.

Increasing longevity, population aging, and the growing prevalence of chronic disease and multimorbidity are creating demands that many healthcare systems, policies, and workforce training models are not fully equipped to address. Current approaches often remain reactive and disease-focused, with insufficient emphasis on prevention, healthspan, healthy aging, lifestyle medicine, and the broader determinants of health. In addition, opportunities presented by emerging innovations, including artificial intelligence and scientific wellness, are not consistently translated into practice. This activity addresses knowledge and system-level gaps by exploring strategies to strengthen healthcare delivery, policy, interdisciplinary collaboration, and cross-sector partnerships to support healthier longevity.
