Hanan Abdul Rahim , PhD, CPH
Hanan F. Abdul Rahim is Professor of Public Health and Dean of the College of Health Sciences at Qatar University, where she has led the College since 2020 through a period of strategic growth aligned with national health workforce and population health priorities.
Internationally, Professor Abdul Rahim is recognized for her contributions to public health workforce education and development. She serves as a Commissioner on the Lancet Commission on Evidence-Based Implementation in Global Health, a member of the WHO Public Health and Emergency Workforce Roadmap Steering Committee, and a member of the Technical Advisory Group on Competency-Based Education for Strengthening the Public Health and Emergency Workforce. She also serves on advisory boards for several national and regional public health education and training bodies, where her work has informed health policy in Qatar and the Eastern Mediterranean region.
Professor Abdul Rahim’s research sits at the intersection of public health and social science, with more than 100 publications in leading journals and reports. Her scholarly work spans maternal and child health, noncommunicable diseases, mental health, social determinants, and population health surveillance. She holds a PhD in Epidemiology from the University of Oslo and is certified in Public Health by the US National Board of Public Health Examiners.
