Ms. Laura Green is the Director of Personal Development and Counseling Services at Virginia Commonwealth University Qatar. She holds an undergraduate degree in Psychology from Washington College, with membership in the Psi Chi honors society. In her subsequent Masters in Social Work from VCU, she was selected for the Phi Kappa Phi honors society. As a founding member of VCU’s Multicultural Committee, she published an article in Perspectives on Multiculturalism and Cultural Diversity entitled “Stereotypes: Negative Racial Stereotypes and Their Effect on Attitudes Towards African Americans.” When she moved to Qatar 19 years ago, she designed the first culturally responsive university counseling program in Education City (now Hamad Bin Khalifa University). 

In 2007, Ms. Green received the Presidential Award for Community Multicultural Enrichment from VCU’s office of Multicultural Student Affairs. Her clinical and research interests include Internal Family Systems therapy and trauma treatment, attachment, emotionally focused therapy, somatic and sensory informed therapy, mindfulness, spirituality, focusing, interpersonal neurobiology, addictions, Imago couples therapy and intercultural competence; her experiences in these areas have enabled her to form strong cross-cultural relations and to guide others in the journey to open-hearted exchange.
