WCMC New Dean Visits Education City Campus

Dr. Laurie Glimcher, the Stephen and Suzanne
Weiss Dean at Weill Cornell Medical College

Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar (WCMC-Q) welcomed Dr. Laurie Glimcher, Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean at WCMC in New York and provost for medical affairs at Cornell University, to the campus in late February, 2012.

A reception was held in honor of Dean Glimcher attended by WCMC-Q’s senior leadership, faculty, staff and students.   Dean Javaid Sheikh welcomed Dean Glimcher to the Doha campus where she spent time meeting faculty and students and touring WCMC-Q’s research labs.  Dean Glimcher spoke of how impressed she was by WCMC-Q’s achievements over the past 10 years and expressed her commitment to the continued growth and development of the college.

Dean Glimcher came to WCMC from Harvard University and is widely regarded as one of the leading physician-scientists in the US.  She succeeds former provost and Stephen and Suzanne Weiss Dean at WCMC, Dr. Antonio Gotto.
