Students Name Best Teachers
April 2010
2010 Faculty Teaching Award recipients pose with Dean Sheikh,
associate dean for pre-medical education Michael Johnson, and
associate dean for medical education Lyuba Konapasek.
Inspiring, dedicated, knowledgeable, thought-provoking, caring, and fun. Those are the qualities students cited frequently in their nominations for recipients of the annual faculty teaching awards last week.
“The students themselves vote to determine the recipients of these faculty teaching awards. As an educator, I can think of no greater honor than that,” said Michael Johnson, PhD, associate dean for pre-medical education, who presented the awards with Lyuba Konapasek, MD, associate dean for medical education. “These teachers are role models, with the attributes desired by all good educators,” said Dr. Konapasek.
Annually, at the end of the academic year, the students nominate the best teachers in the premedical program and medical program.
