DALM Conference Comes to Qatar
August 2010
WCMC-Q will host the international DALM conference in Doha early next year. It is the first time the prestigious conference has been held outside of New York City or Milan, Italy, since it began in 1960.
The conference presents the state of the art in research and treatment on diabetes, obesity, and the metabolic syndrome, disorders which pose significant health challenges for Qatar and other countries in the Gulf Region and around the world.
“We are honored to have the support of Her Highness Sheikha Mozah Bint Nasser Al-Missned, chairperson of the Qatar Foundation, to bring this valuable symposium to Qatar. It is an important step in making the scientific findings needed to address the emerging pandemic more accessible to physicians and health care practitioners in the Middle East,” says Dr. Javaid Sheikh, dean of WCMC-Q.
Participation at the symposia has increased from 200 registrants in 1960 to more than 2,000 from 80 countries at the latest conference in New York in 2007. The conference is promoted and organized by the Qatar Foundation, Weill Cornell Medical College in Qatar, Hamad Medical Corporation, and the Giovanni Lorenzini Medical Foundation. It will be held in at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Doha March 14-16.
