Around 200 health care professionals from more than 20 countries gathered at Doha’s exhibition center recently to speak about advances in medicine. Among them were five physicians from WCMC-Q. Their lectures were part of the first of its kind, five-day “Qatar Health 2009” congress, which featured 13 tracks of medical presentations and workshops.

“This event, with its number of tracks and eminent international and local speakers, provided rich material for the ongoing education of all health professionals in Qatar and the region,” said Dr. Marcellina Mian, adjunct professor of pediatrics at WCMC-Q. “I commend the organizing committee for putting together such an ambitious project.”

The event, organized by Hamad Medical Corporation and the Supreme Council of Health, was designed to showcase advances in the Qatar’s health care system and drew a large number of delegates from the medical sector and the general public. Further, local professionals and international speakers had a chance to meet, Dr. Mian said, making the week a pleasant and gratifying experience for those in the health care field. Overall, Qatar Health 2009 was a chance for the country to host multi-track presentations at the leading edge of health care’s global evolution.
