Pre-medical Program Orientation 2004 - Report 2
48 freshmen were present for Orientation for first year pre-medical students, which took place over four days, August 29th to September 1st.

Fortified by daily breakfast in the South Hall, members of the Class of 2010 set out to discover the Medical College building, and its resources; learn about policies and regulations, the curriculum and lab procedures; and meet the pre-medical faculty and support staff.
Activities were led by director of student affairs, Charles Paragg, and registrar, Betty Monfort, while guidance came from second year pre-medical class-men and -women, assigned to the role of "buddies."
The serious was mixed with the social, with a night out at an Arabian Gulf-style restaurant, dhow trips across Doha Bay, and bowling in a local mall.
Parents were invited to an orientation afternoon designed to inform them about the demands of studying at WCMC-Q, and to explain the sort of support their sons and daughters will need as they progress through the rigorous Pre-medical Program at the Medical College.
Literature also had its place, through participation in the Summer Reading Project, traditionally a part of Orientation at the main Cornell University campus in Ithaca. This year, Kafka's surreal masterpiece, "The Trial," was in the spotlight; the WCMC-Q community joined in with a thought–provoking panel discussion, followed by lively debates in small groups, led by faculty and teaching assistants.
The events culminated in Opening Exercises on September 1st.
