Basketball: Close match ends in win for Cornell team

More than a dozen players and fans arrived at the Qatar Academy gym from the Scientific School for boys to participate in a match against the WCMC-Q boys basketball team.

The visiting team is trained by a professional referee, and this was clearly demonstrated throughout the game by their skilful moves and strong offensive tactics. The Cornell team, consistently driven on by their coach, TA Robert Cronin, played an intense defensive game, stealing the ball away from their opponents at every available moment and blocking as many shots as possible.

The score was close throughout the game, with a final three-pointer from Mohammed Al-Rayahi clinching victory for Cornell by a margin of six points.

This follows a win by the boys team against Qatar Academy earlier in the season – a report on this is carried in the March-April edition of the Weill Cornell Qatar Chronicle.
