Congressional Resolution Honors WCMC-Q and Qatar Foundation

Writing round table: faculty from across Education City and beyond met at WCMC-Q to discuss 'writing in the disciplines', April 20.

Following the opening of the new building of WCMC–Q in October 2003, Congresswoman Carolyn Maloney of New York introduced a Resolution in the House marking the occasion, and recognizing the importance of the partnership between Cornell University and the Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development.

The Resolution was entered in the Congressional Record last November. A copy of it was presented to Dean of WCMC–Q Daniel R. Alonso, M.D., by a group of congressional staff members during a visit to the Medical College in January.

The Dean was also given a United States flag: the flag was flown over the Capitol on October 24, in honor of WCMC-Q and the Qatar Foundation. Congresswoman Maloney played a significant part in opening the way for the agreement between Cornell University and the Qatar Foundation to establish a branch of Weill Cornell Medical College in the State of Qatar.
