Dr. Sumaiya Zobairi is a US Board Certified Family Physician in private practice in Doha, Qatar.
She received her medical degree from Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. Thereafter, Dr. Zobairi completed her residency training in Family Medicine at the University of Texas Health Science Center Houston (UTHSC-Houston) - Department of Family and Community Medicine, serving as Chief Resident in her final year. She stayed on at UTHSC-Houston to pursue an academic research and teaching fellowship in Primary Care while also completing her Master of Public Health in International and Family Health.
Prior to working in Doha, Dr. Zobairi was in private practice in Sugar Land, Texas (a suburb of Houston). She had an academic appointment as Clinical Assistant Professor with UTHSC- Houston – Department of Family and Community Medicine, teaching out-patient family medicine to medical students.
Her research and practice interest include chronic disease, life style medicine with a particular focus on nutrition, social determinants of health and academic development. She has published in the Australian and New Zealand Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology as well Teaching and Learning in Medicine.
