Dr. Ravinder Mamtani


Ravinder Mamtani, MD is a specialist in occupational and general preventive medicine, public health and integrative medicine. Dr. Mamtani is a Professor of Healthcare Policy and Research, Professor of Integrative Medicine and Senior Associate Dean for Population Health, Capacity Building and Student Affairs at Weill Cornell Medicine – Qatar (WCM-Q).

Prior to joining WCM-Q in 2007, Dr. Mamtani was a Professor of Clinical Community and Preventive Medicine and Associate Professor of Clinical Medicine at New York Medical College; and a physician at Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla, New York, where he also served as a Complementary Medicine physician. He has several years of clinical experience in utilizing integrative and lifestyle medicine in the treatment of chronic diseases such as chronic pain, arthritis, mental health conditions and gastrointestinal problems. As a physician at the Adult Nutrition Center, New York he evaluated and managed patients with obesity, dyslipidemia and diabetes.

Dr. Mamtani developed and directed the Master of Public Health (MPH) in International Health and the Diploma in Tropical Medicine programs while at New York Medical College. At WCM-Q, Dr. Mamtani has developed various innovative public health programs. Additionally, as a Principal Investigator of an NIH (National Cancer Institute) R-25 education research grant, he developed new curriculum on nutrition and cancer for medical students at the College (1991-95).

Dr. Mamtani has been an invited speaker on several occasions on various topics in the US and abroad and has published in prestigious peer reviewed journals. As a monthly columnist (2001- 07) for a local newspaper in New York, he wrote on contemporary health issues such as vegetarian diets, health care costs, life style medicine, mind body medicine, and so on.

Dr. Mamtani serves or has served on many government, hospital, and medical school committees. He is a member of the prestigious New York State Board of Professional Medical Conduct and the chair of the Global Educational Exchange in Medicine and the Health Professions (GEMx) Advisory Committee. GEMx is a service of the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates in Philadelphia, US, a world leader in promoting quality healthcare. In the State of Qatar, Dr. Mamtani serves on several government and healthcare system sponsored committees - National Strategy for Health, Community Engagement AHS, Healthcare Work Force, National Preventive Health, Oral Health, and more recently National Health Strategy Planning, to name a few. Dr. Mamtani is also an honorary consultant in public health for Ministry of Public Health, Qatar.

A medical graduate of the University of Delhi, Dr. Mamtani received his postgraduate training in the United Kingdom and at New York Medical College, Valhalla, New York. He was awarded a Master of Science degree in Community Medicine from the University of Manchester (UK). Dr. Mamtani is a diplomate of the American Board of Preventive Medicine in the specialties of general preventive medicine and public health; and occupational medicine. He is also US Board Certified in Integrative Medicine.
